Dat fans in horden achter Tiësto aanlopen, ok. Dat heb je als je een popster van zijn statuur bent. Zijn collega-dj's zijn meestal zuiniger in hun bewondering. "Respect voor wat hij gedaan heeft, sympathieke jongen, hij heeft er hard voor gewerkt…", dat soort dooddoeners komen er meestal uit.
Zo niet de Amerikaanse dj Hipp-E (wie kent hem niet?) De schijnbaar belangrijke underground-dj, die een hoge status geniet in San Francisco, verklaart in een Amerikaans dance-magazine een ware fan te zijn van onze Tijs. Hij mocht in Mexico in het voorprogramma staan van de Nederlander en keek zijn ogen uit. "“Tiesto is a real presence, it’s like watching a rock show when you see him and I think that’s what the kids really enjoy.”
“Most of us DJs get so chilled and stay behind the decks, featuring the music whereas he is the main feature of the show, and the music is just this pounding soundtrack. To be honest I am impressed at the success of what he has done, and you have to respect that.”
- Hipp-E’s own performance also went down surprisingly well, he claimed, despite him playing a techno and minimal style set to the army of adoring trance fans.-
“I later found out from the promoter that people were into my set, and there were some great moments, but it was a tough crowd to say the least, but the crowd was there for Tiesto, and by the time my two hours were up, I was as well.”
